In June last year I was lucky enough to meet the wildlife artist Andrew Hutchinson! Andrew was born in Yorkshire and still lives there today and is my all time favorite wildlife artist. He has done work for many well known companies and is regarded as one of the world's best wildlife artists today.

The above image is part of one of his paintings I particularly love. It was fascinating to talk to Andrew about his paintings and inspiration and to hear stories of his many animal encounters. I always think it's good to talk to as many artists as possible to gain an insight into their way of working and to gain a greater understanding of the processes they go through to produce a final piece.

Soon I hope to post some of my work I am developing at the moment to give you a better insight into my personal style and direction. (The banner at the top of this blog has some examples.)

More soon!

Welcome to my new blog!

Firstly, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Kate MacAndrew and I have recently begun work to set up my own creative business.

'Inspired Naturally' is the name I thought best reflected the type of work I create and more importantly the basis of my inspiration. As the name suggests I love nature and I aim to notice everything about the natural world around me. My work centers around animals and plants I would find in my garden or out and about in the countryside.

I hope to use this space to journal my findings, my work in progress and my journey into a creative business.

Over the last few years (as I completed my Illustration degree) I have been lucky enough to attend some fantastic workshops and meet some of the people who have inspired me. I will share some of these experiences over my next few blogs.

Thank you for stopping by!
